The Gold Coast Guineas, conducted at the prestigious Gold Coast Racecourse in Queensland, is a terrific Group 3 thoroughbred race.

Located approximately 70km south of Brisbane, the Gold Coast Racecourse is one of Queensland’s most scenic and coveted courses and is home to the thrilling Magic Millions Carnival in January annually.

Conducted on the highly anticipated Hollindale Stakes Day in early May each year, the Gold Coast Guineas is one of two Group race features conducted at the meeting. The other headline event is the $300,000 Group 2 Hollindale Stakes (1800m).

Run over a sprint distance of 1200m, the Group 3 Gold Coast Guineas is open to three-year-old runners and is conducted under set weight conditions.

Worth $125,000, the Gold Coast Guineas attracts a quality field of local sprinters each year and is a terrific event for horses preparing for a Brisbane Winter Carnival campaign.

Three-year-olds that contest the Gold Coast Guineas will often move on to other sprint features held at both Doomben and Eagle Farm during the winter carnival in Brisbane.

Good follow-up races to the Gold Coast Guineas include the $125,000 Group 3 Fred Best Classic (1350m) in mid May and the $250,000 Group 2 Queensland Guineas (1600m) at Eagle Farm in June.
