Nominations for the Group 3 Gold Coast Guineas have been released for the race that will run this Saturday May 7, 2011.

28 horses have been nominated for the $125,000 event that will be run over a sprint distance of 1,200 metres.

The 2011 Gold Coast Guineas will be run under set-weight conditions and is open to three-year-olds only.

Included in the 2011 Gold Coast Guineas nominations is John O’Shea’s Solar Charged.

Solar Charged has placed twice at Stakes level so far this preparation, in the Group 3 Rubiton Stakes and the Group 2 Challenge Stakes.

The three-year-old filly has won three of her 13 race starts and has already accrued an impressive $357,750 in prize money.

Robert Heathcote is represented in the nominations by his talented gelding Excellantes in the 2011 Gold Coast Guineas this Saturday.

Excellantes has won three of his six initial race starts, most recently winning the David Jones Handicap at Eagle Farm on April 25.

The Falvelon gelding has never finished outside the placings and has not finished worse than second so far this preparation.

Excellantes will be stepping up in grade for the 2011 Gold Coast Guineas but appears in the perfect form to do so.

Also included in the 2011 Gold Coast Guineas nominations are John Thompson’s Wonderful Lass, Peter Snowden’s Celts and Tony Gollan’s Spirit Of Boom.
