Aimed towards several appearances over the 2014 Brisbane Racing Carnival, trainer Gerald Ryan has elected to nominate Dothraki for the 2014 Gold Coast Guineas.

Securing two wins and five places from only eleven competitive race starts to date, Dothraki has produced a particularly consistent racing career; finishing third in the Group 3 Skyline Stakes (1200m) and second in the Group 2 Pago Pago Stakes (1200m) in his two-year-old autumn preparation in 2013, and continuing to register good results over spring.

Returning to the track in similarly good form this time in, the Mossman colt finished third in the Listed Gosford Guineas (1200m) first-up before producing a strong turn of foot to overcome poor position and finish fifth in the Group 2 Royal Sovereign Stakes (1200m) last time out.

Having claimed one victory from only two race starts to far, exciting New Zealand raider Allez Eagle will be hoping to regather the form that saw a resounding victory in the Rogerson Plumbing Open (1200m) on debut.

Yet to appear on track both in 2014 and in Australia, trainer Tony Pike is confident the Guillotine gelding is the unknown factor heading into the 2014 Gold Coast Guineas and will pose a serious threat is allocated an ideal barrier.

Local hopeful Shantung Boxer has been nominated for an appearance in the 2014 Gold Coast Guineas by trainers Team Meagher.

A proven performer over both track and distance, Shantung Boxer strolled home to win the Ramsden Lawyers Plate Maiden (1200m) last time out, and is set to be partnered by regular jockey Ryan Wiggins this weekend.

Finishing outside the places just once in five starts, talented three-year-old Blackboard Special offers regional trainer Wayne Lawson a great chance of success this weekend, having already beaten several of her fellow Gold Coast Guineas nominees to the line in previous events.

Steadily building to the task this time in, the Snitzel gelding finished fifth after being blocked for a run in the Black Auto Handicap (1100m) first-up before producing a keen turn of foot to overcome poor position and finish third in the Got The Winning Edge Plate (1000m) at Eagle Farm last time out.

A final field and barrier draw for the 2014 Gold Coast Guineas is due to be released on Wednesday morning.
